McHenry County Sheriff’s deputies responded about 6:22 a.m. Thursday January 9, 2020 to a report of a stabbing in the block of 6000 Acorn Court in unincorporated Crystal Lake, just west of Oakwood Hills and north of Cary. Upon arrival police discovered a 29-year-old Crystal Lake man with wounds consistent with the use of a knife. Police provided a news release at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, but additional details about the incident were not initially released.

The man was transported by paramedics to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital and transferred to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said there is no known threat to the public, but then explained there would be a continued police presence in this area — a neighborhood of large single-family homes with large yards. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office also did not reveal whether or not they had a suspect at large or in custody.

Crime scene tape was not initially placed on the block, but a crime scene tape perimeter was set up around the property in the afternoon, and a crime scene van was spotted parked in the driveway to the home.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigation Division is investigating a stabbing, and urged anyone with information about the incident call the McHenry County Sheriff’s office at 815-334-4750.
