Seven Children, 2 Adults Transported to Area Hospitals After a Crash on NB Route 53 Near Kirchoff Rd, Rolling Meadows

Rolling Meadows police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:06 AM Saturday December 7, 2019 to a report of a crash with injuries involving a school bus and an SUV on NB Route 53 and Kirchoff Road Rolling Meadows, Il. Rolling Meadows Battalion Chief 15 on arrival with a truck and an ambulance reported a school bus with a vehicle behind it on northbound Route 53 just south of Kirchoff Road. An extra engine crew was dispatched to help block the scene. Paramedics on scene reported 7 minor pediatric patients with injuries on board the bus that will require transportation. Four additional ambulances were dispatched by 8:18 a.m. Elk Grove Township, Palatine, and Schaumburg ambulances were assigned.

Patients were transported to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights and Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.

Firefighter/paramedics transported a total of nine transports and eleven medical refusals.

Two adults were also evaluated, and possibly transported to an area hospital(s).

All injuries were initially believed to be non-life-threatening. The identity of the school bus and the school were not initially released.
