Grundy County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a male prisoner who escaped Saturday December 7, 2019 from Grundy County Jail, 111 East Washington Street in Morris, Illinois. Prisoner Andrew Viles, 34, is wanted after escaping Grundy County Jail during a meal delivery.
Andrew Viles is described as 5’9”, 175 lbs, has brown hair and hazel eyes.

The Illinois Department of Corrections described Andrew Viles as 5’11” 201 LBS with brown hair and hazel eyes. He has the tattoo “815” on his neck. The “815” area code tattoo is very large and only the tops of the numbers are visible above a T-shirt collar, so much of it is presumed to be on his upper chest. The area code in Grundy County is 815.

Andrew Viles was last seen wearing a dark-colored jacket, possibly a Carhart, light-colored jeans and dark shoes.
Viles has a criminal history of serial burglaries, including residential burglary, that goes as far back as 2002. His most recent admission date to the Lincoln Correction Center was December 15, 2018, but he was out on parole on March 18, 2019.
Viles was sentenced to six years in prison for residential burglary in 2002; four years for “theft control intent” in 2005; nine years on two counts of burglary and one count of residential burglary in 2008, and 12 years for burglary in 2012.
The most recent arrest of Andrew Viles was June 1, 2019 after a Morris Police Department investigation connected him to a burglary at a Citgo gas station in Morris just after midnight on April 24, 2019 and a burglary at the Greenhorn Saloon at 3030 East Route 6 in Morris a few hours later.
His status was listed as “absconder” this weekend by the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Grundy County officials initially did not know precisely how he was able to escape during the delivery.
