House Fire on Wehrheim Rd in Deer Park Quickly Extinguished by Lake Zurich Firefighters

Lake Zurich firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:39 a.m. Wednesday December 25, 2019 following a 911 call from homeowners reporting smoke in a house in the block of 0-99 Wehrheim Road in Deer Park. The first Lake Zurich fire units arrived within four minutes and reported a light amount of smoke coming from the from eaves and wall. The homeowners, who had discovered the smoke, had safely exited the home a and dialed 911.

Fire companies quickly deployed a hose line and were able to bring the fire under control within minutes. Firefighters with assistance from firefighters from Palatine Rural Fire Protection District, Mundelein Fire Department and Wheeling Fire Department contained the fire to the front wall area by the front door.

ComEd was called and the electric utility crews were able to isolate the electric issue and keep the rest of the home operational so the residents could stay at home on Christmas Day.

According to Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department, the fire appears to have originated near an outside light and outlet. The residence sustained some fire and smoke damage with preliminary estimates of $10,000 in damage. The value of property and contents saved is estimated at $400,000. Residents were not displaced by the fire.
