Wheeling police and firefighter/paramedics and Buffalo Grove firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:51 a.m. Monday September 16, 2019 to a report of a high-speed crash involving a semi-trailer truck and a passenger vehicle at Lake Cook Road and Lexington Drive in Wheeling.
At least one person was extricated from the passenger vehicle and transported to a hospital by Wheeling firefighter/paramedics.
Lexington Drive was closed for at least an hour and the shoulder lane of westbound Lake Cook Road was also blocked while police and firefighter/paramedics were on the scene.
The semi-trailer truck appeared to have been traveling westbound on Lake Cook Road with the truck driver making a wide right turn to accommodate the trailer while heading northbound on Lexington Drive. The silver passenger vehicle appeared to have hit the middle of the trailer, but without any initial witness reports it was not possible to determine which direction the passenger vehicle was headed.
This is an early report before any summary information from police officials.
