Steak ’n Shake at 201 East Euclid Avenue in Randhurst Village in Mount Prospect reported a fire in the ceiling near the kitchen about 10:42 a.m. Tuesday August 20, 2019. Mount Prospect firefighter/paramedics responded within two or three minutes and led out with one hose line to extinguish the fire immediately. There was only light smoke inside the restaurant, but it was enough to cause closure of the restaurant for a few days for cleanup.
On Tuesday firefighters quickly ventilated the building after the fire was extinguished. Only light smoke was seen from the outside as firefighters extinguished the fire and ventilated the building. Firefighters also checked the roof to make sure fire had not extended to the roof.
The drive-thru opened for business on Thursday August 22 2019, and the restaurant dining area is hopefully going to open on Monday, August 26, 2019.
