Arlington Heights Police Department announced early Monday June 10, 2019 that Deborah Jane Martin has been charged with two counts of First Degree Murder in the deaths of her parents Anne P. Martin, age 71, and David G. Martin, age 72.

Police reported that Arlington Heights police officers responded to 3 South Derbyshire for a ‘Well-Being Check’ on Saturday June 8, 2019 at 12:32 a.m. after an individual dialed 9-1-1 from inside the residence. No discernible conversation took place during the 9-1-1 call. Police officers were dispatched to investigate the open telephone line. Upon arrival, police officers — from outside the house — observed an unresponsive female, with obvious signs of violence, down on the kitchen floor. Police officers immediately forced entry to attempt a rescue of the victim and secure the home in case the offender was still on scene. Soon after initial assessment and investigating by the police officers first on scene, the police officers discovered two individuals down, who suffered traumatic injuries and were without any sign of life.

While attending to the victims, officers were confronted by a female who was descending the second floor stairs. The person was detained and identified as the victims’ daughter. She was later transported to the police station for investigation.

Arlington Heights Fire Department firefighter/paramedics were dispatched to the scene. Paramedics determined the victims were beyond receiving any benefit of medical attention. The scene was secured by police, and notifications for a major investigation were initiated.

Arlington Heights Police Department and the Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT) Forensic Technicians processed the crime scene all day Saturday and all day Sunday. Arlington Heights Police Department detectives conducted a multitude of interviews, reviewed dispatch audio and physical evidence, all in an effort to seek criminal charges against the person of interest.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted post mortem examinations on both victims and determined cause and manner of death for each.

The case facts as known were presented to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. Arlington Heights Police Department announced early Monday that felony charges have been approved.

The offender, Deborah Jane Martin, age 43, also a resident at 3 South Derbyshire will be transported to the Cook County Third Municipal District Courthouse Monday afternoon, June 10, 2019 for an initial bond hearing.
