Helicopter Crash on Top of Skyscraper on Seventh Ave Near 51st St, in Manhattan, New York City

New York City police and firefighters responded about 1:43 p.m. Monday June 10, 2019 to a report that a helicopter crash-landed onto the roof of a building at 787 Seventh Avenue in midtown Manhattan and was burning.

The building, known as the Axa Equitable Center at 787 Seventh Avenue, is located between West 51st and West 52nd streets at the north end of Times Square about seven blocks north of the hub of Times Square at 7th Avenue and 46th Street.

One person — the pilot — is confirmed dead. No other injuries were initially reported. The fire was extinguished, but a fuel leak continued after the fire was extinguished. Weather conditions were poor and continue to be poor with fog and drizzle at the scene.

Tenants in the building include BNP Paribas, Citibank and international law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher.

Early report is that there is no initial sign of any terrorism involved in this incident.
