FDNY: NO INJURIES, NO FIRE, NO EVIDENCE OF EXTRATERRESTRIAL ACTIVITY

The New York Police Department and FDNY authorities along with Con Edison official are investigating a transformer explosion at a Con Edison power plant in Queens, the departments and utility reported.

Con Edison reported that electrical arcing with multiple fires at the plant occurred because a “couple of transformers tripped offline” at the intersection of 20th Avenue and 32nd Street in Astoria, Queens,

The explosions lit up the sky in shades of blue and turquoise visible from Manhattan and New Jersey. Loud humming was heard, and tremors shook buildings and rattled windows.

The incident caused a local buzz on the street as well as on social media.

There was a brief electrical fire at our substation in Astoria this evening, which involved some electrical transformers and caused a transmission dip in the area. Power lines serving the area are in service and system is stable.
