CHICAGO BEARS RADIO -- WBBM Newsradio 780 "Traffic on the 8's"

VIDEO: Rollover Truck Crash Route 53 and Algonquin Rd, Rolling Meadows.

Illinois State Police and Schaumburg firefighter/paramedics responded about 1:22 PM Wednesday September 5, 2018 to a report of a rollover crash with injuries at Route 53 NB and Algonquin Road Rolling Meadows, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a semi-trailer truck rolled over and crashed on the ramp from northbound Route 53 to the stoplight at Algonquin Road.

There appeared to be no extrication with a standby hose line near the truck, which was rolled over on the driver’s side. Schaumburg Fire Department, Illinois State Police and a HELP truck were on the scene. The ambulance departed, and it was unknown whether there was a transport. Traffic is flowing on affected ramp, but may be stopped when the trailer is actually upright with a heavy rescue tow truck rotator.

Initially it was not confirmed whether the truck driver was injured. He was transported to a nearby hospital, Basic Life Support with initially minor injuries, or as a precaution for a checkup.

As of 1:30 p.m. Jonnys towing, the private tow for the trucking company, was transferring the load in the trailer. The trailer contained large shrink-wrapped boxes on wood pallets. At times the contents were being transferred one product at a time by hand. Later in the afternoon Illinois State Police said the contents were frozen pizza dough crusts. The semi-trailer truck was a refrigerated trailer.
