Emirates Airline Flight from Dubai Isolated at JFK Airport After Reports As Many As 100 People May Be Sick

EMIRATES AIRLINE SAYS ONLY 10 ARE SICK

New York police, firefighters, paramedics, airport and health authorities responded about 9:10 a.m. Wednesday September 5, 2018 to JFK Airport when an Emirates Airline A380 arrived with a report that as many as 100 passengers were ill, and some seriously ill at JFK International Airport.

The Emirates Airline pilot reported two male passengers on board with extremely high fevers and approximately 100 passengers “coughing non-stop.” On their official Twitter account, Emirates Airline confirmed 10 people on board had “taken ill.”

“Statement: Emirates can confirm that about 10 passengers on #EK203 from Dubai to New York were taken ill. On arrival, as a precaution, they were attended to by local health authorities. All others will disembark shortly. The safety & care of our customers is our first priority.”

Emirates Flight 203, an Airbus A380 with 521 passengers on board, arrived from Dubai at 9:10 a.m. after declaring a medical emergency.

The plane was held away from the terminals, as law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics and other health officials responded on the ground. The Centers for Disease Control and U.S. Customs and Border Protection were also notified.

The ill passengers are reportedly being triaged on one of the world’s largest passenger aircraft as health officials continue to assess the health emergency.
