Bartlett police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:50 AM Tuesday September 25, 2018 to a report of a crash with injuries Stearns Road and Munger Road Bartlett, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived to find a crash involving three vehicles with extremely heavy damage. Initially it was reported that two vehicles were involved in the crash.
UPDATE: Stearns Road still closed between Brewster Creek Road and Route 59 at 1:45 p.m.
Firefighter/paramedics on arrival upgraded the crash to an extrication response. Extra ambulances were also requested with ambulances from Elgin, South Elgin, and Streamwood assigned mutual aid.
The first patient was extricated by about 6:01 am. Command requested a helicopter by 6:02 am. but Flight for Life was unavailable because of weather. Fire command was canceling the helicopter request by 6:05 am. Extrication of the last patient was completed by 6:35 a.m.
Four patients are reported injured with at least one with life-threatening injuries.
Eastbound Stearns Road was at a standstill west of Munger.
The crash was also reported on Waze, and Stearns Road was shut down between Brewster Creek Road and Lynnfield Lane.
