Libertyville police, Lake County Sheriff’s deputies and Libertyville firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:18 AM Thursday August 2, 2018 to a report of a high pressure gas line rupture and outdoor leak near Braeloch Ct and Ashford Court Lake Bluff, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a gas line was hit, causing a high pressure gas line rupture and outdoor leak.
An order for evacuations of homes was activated about 10:26 a.m. The fire department response was upgraded to a “Structure Fire Response” as a precaution at 10:27 a.m. The response was also needed apparently for extra personnel assigned to evacuation of residents.
Hazmat weather conditions at about 10:30 a.m. were reported as winds WSW 4 MPH.
Traffic was blocked at Rockland Rd and Ashford Dr and west of scene.
A Box Alarm was activated at 10:48 a.m. for Change of Quarters only to put neighboring firefighters in Libertyville fire stations to protect the rest of the Libertyville area. The Change of Quarters Box Alarm was struck out by 11:16 a.m. after North Shore Gas was on the scene by 10:55 a.m. The gas company shut down the main at Route 176 (Rockland Road) and Ashford Court to shut down the leak for repairs.
