Mount Prospect police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:25 PM Tuesday May 1, 2018 to a report of an activated fire alarm at a garbage transfer station 1701 Kenneth Drive Mount Prospect, Il. Mount Prospect Engine 12’s crew on arrival at a 1-story garbage facility by 10:29 p.m. reported heavy smoke showing and upgraded the call to a working fire by 10:30 p.m.
A crew was dropping a 5″ line by 10:37 p.m.
Command reports that garbage is burning inside the building, and firefighters are working on getting the burning garbage outside the building.
Wind observation at O’Hare International Airport at 9:51 p.m. was S 16 MPH with gusts to 28 MPH. Winds overnight are forecast SSW 15 mph.
