CRIME SCENE VIDEO: Body recovered from frozen pond/reservoir near a professional office building on East Golf Road near Goebbert Road in Arlington Heights.
Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:51 AM Wednesday February 21, 2018 to a report of a body found in an icy reservoir pond near a professional office building, 617 East Golf Rd Arlington Heights, Il Arlington Heights, Il. First, Arlington Heights police officers responded to a report that an employee at a professional office building found a body in the corner of a frozen reservoir pond near the professional office building.
The man who found the body was on a smoke break, and was walking near the pond outside his office. At first he noticed a jacket, then he realized he was seeing a body, face down in ice and water.
Police arrived on the scene, and then called for firefighters to respond to the scene to cover the body with a tarp while they investigated the scene.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office was notified, and responded to investigate the scene.
Arlington Heights Police Detectives were on the scene, and immediately went to work to begin the process of ruling out foul play, and continuing an investigation, if necessary.
Later in the afternoon, about 2:00 p.m., firefighters wearing life jackets, gumby suits, and one wearing a Mustang suit for protection from the cold water, worked to recover the body from the frozen pond — in a mix of ice and water. The body was located in the northwest corner of the pond, and was removed to an embankment next to the pond.
Firefighters were prepared with power saws, if they needed to cut the ice to free the body from the ice. The saws were not needed and firefighters removed the body with an orange Stokes basket or “Rescue Basket Stretcher.”
The body, apparently a large deceased male, was transported by a private funeral home service to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office in Chicago.
