Algonquin police responded about 3:30 p.m. Saturday December 23, 2017 to a report of a bank robbery at the TCF Bank inside the Jewel-Osco at 103 South Randall Road in Algonquin. Off duty members of the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Department (IAFF Local 3985) were already on the scene helping collect Salvation Army donations outside the store as the suspect fled. Along with other citizens, the off-duty firefighters helped detain the man as he was headed toward a getaway car.
Police said that a man with a fake beard demanded money from the bank teller and fled with cash before being chased and tackled by citizens outside the Jewel-Osco.
Police captured a female that attempted to flee in the getaway vehicle.
Police identified Daniel R. Plushkis, 26, of Crystal Lake, and Jessica E. Plushkis, 28, of Crystal Lake, who are husband and wife. They are suspects in the bank Algonquin TCF bank robbery, charged with financial institution robbery and burglary. Both suspects were initially held without bond.
The FBI and several local police agencies were working to determine whether the bank robber is the same suspect that robbed other TCF Banks recently.
