Lake County Sheriff K-9 Boomer Takes 1st Place in Explosive Door Bottoms Category

Deputy Kilpatrick and his K9 Boomer took 1st place in “Explosive Door Bottoms” category, with the winning “hide” being placed 14′ deep in a room behind two 10′ closed doors. According to the judges, it’s rare that a first-year K-9 places in the top 3 of any event.

The “Explosive Door Bottoms” category was one of several events featured at the 18th Annual Seminar and Certification Trials, aka the “K9 Olympics”, for explosive detection.

The competition was hosted by Vohne Liche Kennels and American Working Dogs Association in Denver, Indiana and featured 115 participating teams from across the U.S., Canada, South America and Australia. is an Amazon Associate website, which means that a small percentage of your purchases gets paid to at no extra cost to you.
