WINTER STORM WARNING. After issuing the lesser Winter Weather Advisory about 3:00 a.m., the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning effective from 6:00 p.m. Saturday to Midnight Sunday/Monday. Early this morning the heaviest snow was expected to be near the Illinois-Wisconsin state line to about Racine, Wisconsin.

Confidence is low that there will be a total of more than 8 inches of snow accumulation by Sunday at midnight in the northwest suburbs. However, the National Weather Service Forecast Office Hourly Weather Forecast Graph at 11:15 a.m. was predicting 9 inches total by 11 p.m. Sunday. Arlington Heights and northwest suburbs are more likely to accumulate about 5 inches of snow.

TODAY: A 30 percent chance of snow after 5pm. Cloudy, with a high near 23. West wind around 5 mph. Snow accumulation may hit 2-3 inches by midnight Saturday/Sunday.

TONIGHT: Snow, mainly after 7pm. Temperature rising to around 26 by 5am. South southeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible. Another 3 inches may accumulate from midnight to 7 AM.

SUNDAY: Snow. High near 33. South southeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 5 inches may accumulate by Sunday at 11:00 p.m.
