Small Fire During Construction Work at Sonic Drive-In on Dundee Rd Near Baldwin Ln, Palatine


Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:52 PM Tuesday to an activated fire alarm at Sonic Drive-in Restaurant, 1151 East Dundee Road Palatine, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a dispatch after an Activated Fire Alarm was received at 3:56 p.m.

Engine 82’s crew on arrival reported construction crews on scene but nothing showing from four sides by 4:00 p.m.

Palatine’s Battalion Chief 8 reported smoke in the building and upgrades to a confirmed fire Code 3 at 4:05 p.m.

Crews were pulling dry wall by 4:13 p.m. to search for fire, which was possibly caused by welding work during construction.

Engine 82’s crew reported the initial fire was knocked from the outside by 4:18 p.m.

Quint 83’s crew on the roof with a roof hose line established.

Crew opened a wall and hit the fire with a pump can by 4:20 p.m.

Battalion 8 requested an additional ambulance and engine at 4:22 p.m.

Battalion Chief 8 reported two lines off and a main to the roof at 4:48 p.m.

Battalion 8 reported loss stopped at 4:55 p.m.
