$2,000 Loss in Grandparent Scam on South Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 11:01 AM Tuesday of a victim of a “Grandparent Scam” in the block of 200 South Arlington Heights Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders contacted the victim by telephone and told the victim his grandson had been on an accident and needed money.

The victim went to CVS and purchased iTunes gift cards, and provided the offender(s) with the gift card numbers. Total loss reported was about $2,000.

The crime is reported to have occurred between Monday, March 21, 2016 at 10:00 AM and Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM. The elapsed time range including the time the crime could have occurred is 25:00 (hours: minutes).
