The Major Case Assistance Team was called to the scene for an extended crash investigation. Investigators were working past midnight with Springinsguth Road closed in both directions near Hartmann Drive.

One vehicle was apparently southbound at high speed on Springinsguth Road resulting in the Mitsubishi sedan being hit on the driver’s side near the south intersection of Springinsguth Road and Hartmann Drive. The crash occurred near the crown of a small hill on Springinsguth Road. Semerad may have had difficulty seeing the oncoming vehicle coming up the hill and may have misjudged the speed of the oncoming vehicle before attempting a left in front of the fleeing vehicle.

Both crashed vehicles were stopped about 90 feet south of the south intersection of Hartmann Drive and Springinsguth Road. The Mitsubishi was on the east side parkway, off road. The other vehicle was facing north in the southbound lanes of Springinsguth Road. A track of automotive fluids traced the path of both vehicles to resting positions south of the intersection.

Springinsguth Road was opened sometime early Tuesday.
