Hit-and-Run Driver Kills 86-Year Old Woman Walking Near Dunkin’ Donuts on Irving Park Rd, Bensenville

Bensenville police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:30 AM Friday to a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian incident in the block of 1000 West Irving Park Road Bensenville, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a woman was hit by a hit-and-run driver that was making a right turn from the Bensenville Dunkin’ Donuts exit onto Irving Park Road.

The pedestrian, who lived near the crime scene, suffered fatal injuries from being hit by the vehicle. The Bensenville Fire Protection District
transported her to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village where she
was pronounced dead.

The female pedestrian was identified as Modesta De La Rosa,
86-years-old, of the 1000 block of West Irving Park Road in Bensenville.

The Bensenville Police Department with the assistance of the Du Page County
Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the fatal hit-and-run crash that
occurred at approximately 7:30 AM on Friday, October 23, 2015.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a gray extended cab Ford
pickup truck that was turning right from the Dunkin’ Donuts exit on the south side
of the 1000 block of West Irving Park Road when Modesta De La Rosa was hit.

Modesta De La Rosa was walking west on the sidewalk in front of the truck. After striking the pedestrian, the vehicle continued
eastbound on Irving Park Road without stopping.
