Ask Paul B: Confederate Flag Didn’t Feel Racist

... #ad▼

Dear Paul B,

I went to Ole Miss, and so did my Mom and Uncle. We always flew the Confederate Flag, and never felt like we were being racist or discriminating. We had ancestors who fought for This COUNTRY, and for that we are proud. So, America should let us enjoy our freedom, and honoring our fearless Confederate soldiers. They died for our freedom……

Dear B and F,

This Confederate Flag issue is just NOT about YOU, kids. This is a serious issue about OTHERS who feel OFFENDED by the flag. If you read your history books, the MAIN THEME of the Civil War was very much about SLAVERY. The U.S. was in the process of eliminating slavery everywhere, and The South refused to submit. Although it is true that many Northerners and even Presidents owned slaves, President Lincoln had insisted that slavery be outlawed in each and every state. Here is the rub, kids….if African Americans, White Americans, or anyone from anywhere are offended and feel the discrimination from which this flag was created, then it clearly should not be allowed. Try this on for size, how about honoring the Stars and Stripes—-there’s a positive, proud flag, that everyone in the Civil War was fighting for!

— Paul B.

RT: “Videos of Americans tearing down Confederate flags are flooding the internet. The Confederate flag has been engulfed in controversy being called a symbol of hate and black oppression. Several major retailers including Walmart and Amazon have removed it from sale. “

Two passionate voices from both sides of the issue debate if the Confederate flag should be removed from government buildings.
