A Southwest Airlines plane mistakenly landed at the wrong airport in Branson, Missouri. CNN’s Rene Marsh reports.

A Southwest Airlines flight from Chicago’s Midway International Airport was scheduled to land Sunday night at Branson Airport in southwest Missouri. However, the Southwest Boeing 737-700 landed at Taney County’s M. Graham Clark Downtown Airport, which is about 7 miles north with a significantly shorter runway and a different orientation on earth’s surface — 12/30 instead of 14/32. The Taney County airport runway lies at a 120-degree angle from due north while the Branson runway lies at a 140-degree angle from due north.

Passengers reported a hard landing and the smell of burning rubber after the landing. Branson’s runway is 7,14o feet. The M. Graham Clark runway is 3,738 feet. The pilot had to apply some heavy braking to keep the aircraft from running off the end of the runway onto US Route 65, which is a four-lane expressway, traveling through Branson and Hollister, Missouri
