Shots Fired Reported at Gould Hall; “Shelter in Place” Order at University of Oklahoma Campus

UPDATE: Unfounded … the reports of a shooting and a gunman on the campus of the University of Oklahoma today, Wednesday, January 22, 2014 were false, according to the school’s president, David L. Boren.

Police at the University of Oklahoma say a shooting has occurred on campus and are telling everyone to shelter in place.

The University of Oklahoma posted a notice on its website Wednesday that people should avoid Gould Hall. A notice sent by its Twitter account said: “Seek immediate shelter in place.”

Gould Hall is directly across from the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium also known as Owen Field — the on-campus football facility for the University of Oklahoma Sooners across Asp Avenue.
