Online Sales Surged 37% For The Last Weekend Before Christmas; UPS Was Hustling At Mariano’s to Finish Deliveries

Total online sales from Friday through Sunday this past weekend surged 37 percent year-to-year. Mobile traffic represented two-fifths of all online traffic, according to IBM Digital Analytics. Mobile sales up 53 percent, accounting for 21.5% of all online sales, also according to IBM.

UPS coordinates a last minute shipment from Amazon to deliver to homes in Arlington Heights.

Retailers’ holiday sales in stores have so far proved disappointing.

Mall-traffic tracker ShopperTrak on Monday reported a 3.1 percent decline in holiday in-store sales and a 21 percent drop of in store traffic in the crucial shopping week ended Sunday, December 22, 2013. additional data again suggest a much brighter picture online.

UPS was busy at the last minute honoring an agreement with Amazon. The online store store had a last minute shipment from O’Hare International Airport, and UPS trucks met at Mariano’s Fresh Market parking lot to complete the shipment to customers’ front doors in Arlington Heights.

UPS trucks streamed into the parking lot at Mariano’s Fresh Market as packages were relayed from one truck to another to meet a December 24, 2013 promise.
