Credit Card Number Phishing: Victim Gives Up CC Number As Caller Portray

#ad▼

Arlington Heights received a report of a telephone “phishing for credit number” scam recently.

A resident received a phone call from a source that was indicated on his name/number caller-ID as “ISON1”. The caller stated he was from “the credit card company” (no specific company name) and that his card was used at Home Depot and one or two other prominent and recognizable merchants.

The caller asked for the victim’s credit card number, which the victim provided.

Later the victim realized his error and called to report the phishing breach to his credit card company. He then learned that his credit card was used for several purchases totaling a couple hundred dollars.

The telephone lines being used by the offender(s) are mostly untraceable.
