Mount Prospect Man, 95-Year-Old on Bicycle, Hit and Killed By Morning Metra Commuter Train, US 14 and Central Rd

A 95-year-old on a bicycle was hit by a Metra commuter train on the Union Pacific line at Northwest Highway and Central Road in Mount Prospect.

Mount Prospect police and firefight/paramedics responded to the scene a out 7:53 a.m.

The collision involved train 622, which departed Barrington at 7:27 a.m. and was due into the Mount Prospect station at 7:50 a.m., Metra spokesman Tom Miller said.

The man, a Mount Prospect resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are withholding the man’s identity until family members are notified.
