Thursday Evening’s Rain Brings 0.45 Inch to Central Arlington Heights; Des Plaines River Level Dropping

Yesterday’s sudden thunderstorm brought 0.45 inch of rain to central Arlington Heights, and interrupted many youth baseball games. Many games were delayed or re-schedule for tonight or this weekend.

The extra rain yesterday did not affect much change in the Des Plaines River. While a Flood Advisory still exists, the river is expected to begin a slow fall today.

At 7:45 a.m. the river stage at Riverside was 6.7 feet — action stage is 6.0 feet and flood stage is 7.0 feet. At 6.5 feet the river floods affected forest preserve areas.

At 8:45 a.m. the river state at Des Plaines was 5.28 feet — action stage is 4.5 feet and flood stage is 5.0 feet.
