Scam Attempt Involves Knowledge of Insurance Check Due To Resident on North Wilshire Ln, Arlington Heights


Arlington Heights police received a report on Tuesday of a scam by telephone at a residence in the block of 1000 North Wilshire Lane Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that the potential victim of a scam received a telephone call from a subject who demanded he go to Walmart, purchase green dot money packs and give them to the caller. The subject claimed to work for the insurance company who coincidentally was already sending a legitimate check to complaint for a claim. The complainant has no idea how the offender knew about the actual insurance check. The phone number used by the offender may have originated from Kingston, Jamaica

The crime is reported to have occurred on Monday June 10, 2013 between 9:00am-5:00pm.
