Five Rumors: These 5 Things Did Not Happen at Standoff/Barricade Situation At Wing Street Condominium, Arlington Heights

Police continued to secure the scene Sunday May 5, 2013 at 151 West Wing Street while investigators work at the scene of “shots fired” Saturday evening (May 4, 2013).

Here’s a list of five rumors heard on the street during and after the incident that DID NOT occur on Saturday evening related to a standoff situation in Arlington Heights.

NOT TRUE: A bank robber was pursued into the condominium at 151 West Wing Street and was inside with a hostage.

NOT TRUE: An Armed robber fled Jewel-Osco and was seen running into the the condominium.

NOT TRUE: A major fight broke out at Peggy Kinnanes with at least one suspect pursued into the condominium building.

NOT TRUE: One person was killed with witnesses reporting seeing a body bag carried out of the building.

NOT TRUE: Jewel-Osco across the street was evacuated during the SWAT operations

The following DID happen and is TRUE: Police professionalism prevented injuries: No injuries for the entire operation, no trauma, no gunshot wounds.

Law enforcement officers responded to a shots fired call with a man barricaded in a condominium unit at 151 West Wing Street about 5:22 p.m. Saturday.
