Palatine firefighter/paramedics and Illinois State police responded about 7:07 a.m. Friday to a report of a crash possibly involving seven vehicles and entrapment on northbound Route 53, just south of Palatine Road. Later firefighter/paramedics received a report that one car was on its side. The first firefighter/paramedics on the scene reported that no people were trapped, and also helped at least one person out of a Jeep Grand Cherokee that was resting on its side. Only two vehicles were involved in the crash. About five vehicles and motorists stopped to assist the occupant or occupants in the overturned vehicle.

One female appeared to have a minor injury. All involved refused transportation to the hospital.

The outside lane of northbound Route 53 was blocked for at least one hour. All lanes were blocked temporarily for a private tow truck that became stuck while it was attempting to recover the rollover vehicle from a ditch near the exit ramp from northbound. All lanes were cleared at about 9:40 a.m. Friday.

Note: The Northwest Central Dispatch System overhead voice speakers and/or tones in the Palatine Fire Station for Ambulance 84 and Engine 84 did not work, so crews for these rigs had to ask Northwest Central Dispatch if they had an assignment.
