5:54 a.m. — Traffic signals out at Lake Cook Road and Rand Road, Deer Park.

5:26 a.m. — Replenish road flares at Shore Drive, Schaumburg.

5:06 a.m. — Traffic signals out at Devon and Lively, Elk Grove Village.

4:02 a.m. — Tree down in the roadway 400 block of North Stephen Dr, Palatine.

2:26 a.m. — Tree down in the roadway at Pratt and Williams, Palatine.

1:32 a.m. — Schaumburg Fire Department responded to an activated fire alarm with a report of power failure and fire by the east dock at Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel, 1651 Thoreau Drive. Firefighters reported smoke and a problem with a transformer in a building separate from the main hotel and convention center. No hazard, but firefighters standing by for Com Ed.

11:10 p.m. — Medical assist on West Vine, Arlington Heights for home care assist due to lack of power.

10:59 p.m. — Traffic signal malfunction, lights out in all directions at Euclid Avenue and Wilke Road.

10:37 p.m. — Traffic signal malfunction at Arlington Heights Road and Park Street, Arlington Heights

10:37 p.m. — Smell of smoke in bathroom, 900 block of Lee Court, Buffalo Grove.

[68,000 ComEd customers reported without power (North: 23,400; South: 10,170; City of Chicago: 7,200)]

10:30 p.m. — Traffic signals out at Biesterfield and Rohlwing Road.

10:11 p.m. — 300 block of Langley Drive sparks coming form the electric meter and smell of smoke in the house. Power line feed melted and separated from the house. Firefighters standing by for Com Ed response.

10:09 p.m. — Report of a tree down at Dundee and Bendlington, Inverness

10:08 p.m. — Tree down in the middle of the road at 1628 Cambourne

10:06 p.m. — 1104 South Arlington Heights Road pole hit by lightning.

10:04 p.m. — Large power outage near Arlington Heights Road and White Oak

[No high winds in Arlington Heights]

9:56 p.m. — Shed on fire near Avon and Penrith, Elk Grove Village

9:54 p.m. — Lightning hit power line, arching

9:53 p.m. — Possible house fire near Kirchoff and Route 53.

[In Arlington Heights, the most intense thunderstorms are indicated passing south of Euclid Avenue]

9:47 p.m. — 1600 block of Green River Drive, smell of something burning from the attic

9:41 p.m. — Power line down location developing

[Numerous power outages in northwest suburbs]

9:40 p.m. — Frontage and Creekside, Rolling Meadows blown transformer

9:38 p.m. Large amount of debris in roadway location developing

9:36 p.m. Tree down across westbound lanes of Dundee Road.

At 9:23 p.m. Wednesday heavy rain with almost zero visibility reported in Schaumburg. Branches reported down near Schaumburg Road and Braintree.

8:55 p.m. National Weather Service Doppler failed after possible lightning strike.
