Severe Thunderstorm Cell Hits Arlington Heights: Trees Branches Down, Power Outages

A thunderstorm between 1:00 p.m. and 1:20 p.m. Saturday with severe wind gusts, downed tree branches and and cause brief power outages and numerous activated burglary alarms in Arlington Heights.

Large tree branches reported in the 700-800 West Tanglewood Drive. Cars are reported driving on lawns to get around the blocked road.

Large tree branches reported down in the 700-800 block of North Dunton Avenue.

Large tree branches reported down in the 900 block of Walnut Avenue.

Pole and tree down across the road in the 1600 block of North Douglas. A street light was brought down by a tree branch.

Flooded street reported at Dunton Avenue and Olive Street.

The storm also brought brief heavy rain. Pea-size hail was reported near Hickory Avenue and Oakton Street. One gust was was particularly intense — possibly of the microburst type.

No Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for or area prior to the storm or during the storm.
