Attempted Bank Robbery US Bank on Rand Rd Near Dundee Rd, Palatine

Palatine police received a report about 10:40 a.m. Saturday of a bank robbery at the US Bank, 1586 North Rand Road. The offender is described as a male/white in his 30’s, 6’2, 200 LBS, very thin build, wearing a white polo shirt, new blue-and-white sneakers, dark black glasses and a baseball cap. He was also carrying a black backpack. No weapon was seen, but the offender did reach into his waistband — implying he had a weapon. Police arrived on the scene within one minute. The offender is reported to have left the rear of the bank. He fled the scene on foot through the employee parking lot to the rear of Starbucks toward Home Depot near Rand Road and Dundee Road.

The offender passed a note to the teller, but did not get any money. The crime is reported to have occurred about 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
