Crash with traffic signal that destroyed windshield at Dundee Road and Golfview Terrace, Buffalo Grove.

Buffalo Grove police and firefighters responded about 5:16 p.m. Saturday to the westbound lanes of Dundee Road and Golfview Terrace to a report of a vehicle vs. light pole crash. Police received a report about that three subjects bailed out of the car and fled on foot westbound on Chenault.

The subjects were described as a male/black, 18-year-old, wearing a red baseball cap and white hoodie; a male/Hispanic, 18-years-old, wearing dark clothing; and a female/Hispanic wearing dark clothing.

No injuries were reported. Firefighters responded to check for electrical hazards related to exposed wires. A light pole and traffic signal was taken down during the crash.

Police were investigating the subjects and trying to determine why they fled.

Firefighters used a TAC Stick® or similar AC current-sensing device to detect live AC power at the crash scene (Google Search TAC Stick®/Demo video below).

The Will-Burt TAC Stick, apparently detects AC power sources from as far as 150 meters. It’s reported to be a very useful tool when you operate around power lines, or in electrical fires. It can warn you if a downed power line gets re-energized, for example.
