Chicago Fire, Police Rescue 8 from Boat in Distress East of Navy Pier

Chicago Fire Department and Chicago Police Department responded about 5:00 p.m. Saturday to a water rescue/boat in distress near the Chicago Harbor lighthouse off near Navy Pier. At least eight people were reported rescued from the water and secured at the breakwater near the Chicago Harbor Lighthouse.

The Chicago Fire Department dive team and the Chicago Police Department Marine Unit responded to a report of people in the water on the 600 block of East Grand Avenue just east of navy Pier. One person was removed on a backboard. All individuals were transported to shore on a Chicago Fire Department fireboat.
