Arlington Jockey Junior Alvarado Breaks Collarbone During Race at Arlington Park

Junior Alvarado, 26, fell from his horse, Monkey’s Moonbeam, and broke his collarbone (clavicle) during the fourth race about 4:30 p.m. Friday at Arlington Park.

Arlington Heights and Rolling Meadows firefighter/paramedics responded to Arlington Park at 4:40 p.m. Friday and met with paramedics from a private ambulance at top of the stretch in the northeast corner of the racetrack. The private ambulance stands by at Arlington Park for any possible mishaps on the racetrack.


Alvarado was transported to Northwest Community Hospital by Rolling Meadows Fire Department firefighter/paramedics.

As of Friday Alvarado from Venezuela is Arlington’s top winner in 2011 with 19 wins. In 2009 Alvarado won Arlington Park’s riding title with 110 wins, and in 2010 he placed second.
