DC-10 AirTankers, Air National Guard C-135s Called In To Fight Texas Wildfire

Heavy equipment from Air National Guard units around the country has been called in to help battle wildfires raging in parts of Texas.

Modified DC-10 aircraft are stationed at Midland International Airport, Midland, Texas. The McDonnell Douglas aircraft are capable of bringing 11,700 gallons of fire retardant to the wildfire.

Mandatory Evacuations West of US 277 with 20-foot Flames Approaching
Mandatory evacuations were ordered for residents around Hartman Lane, Tennyson School Road, Tennyson Road, Rocky Lane, and FM 2333 in Coke County from U.S. 277 south to the Runnels County line. Evacuees can leave through FM 2333 to FM 1692 and go east to Miles, according to the Texas Forest Service. Spots fires appeared on the eastern side of U.S. 277 but have been completely extinguished.
