VIDEO: Accident Investigation Team on Elmhurst Road, between Ridge and Palatine Road Sunday night.

Prospect Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:20 p.m. Sunday to a report of a crash involving a Jeep and possibly another vehicle. A woman was reported pinned under the Jeep, which was on its roof on the bridge of Route 83, just south of Palatine Road. Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived in about two minutes; but before police and firefighter/paramedics arrived, bystanders are reported to have released the woman from the weight of the SUV, which was later on its passenger side during the accident investigation.

The woman was transported with life threatening injuries within four minutes of arrival of paramedics on ‘Rapid Transport’ status to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

Wheeling Fire Department also responded to the accident scene, but no word was available on a second victim at the crash.

Elmhurst Road was closed between Ridge and Palatine Road while an accident investigation team worked at the crash scene until about 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

It appeared that the Jeep, possibly a Jeep Liberty, was northbound on Elmhurst Road (Route 83) in the right lane, just south of the bridge, and ended up on its roof near the right lane and guard rail of the north side of the bridge in the southbound lanes of Elmhurst Road.

No details are available to confirm if there was contact with a second vehicle, or if the contact happened before the rollover or not.
