The Hollywood Reporter calls the 83rd Annual Academy Awards the night James Franco couldn’t act like a host. Franco looked bored or embarrassed for being there — like a shamed high school caught by peers with his parents while shopping for clothes.
Hathaway appeared in the 1999 television series Get Real. She played Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries (2001). Over the next three years, Hathaway reprised that role for The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, and starred in Ella Enchanted, both in 2004.
Hathaway had dramatic roles in Havoc and Brokeback Mountain, both in 2005. She starred in The Devil Wears Prada (2006) and in Becoming Jane (2007) as Jane Austen. In 2008, she was acclaimed for her lead role in Rachel Getting Married, for which she won awards and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress. In 2010, she starred in the box office hits Valentine’s Day and Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland, as well as Love and Other Drugs.
Franco achieved portrayed Harry Osborn in Sam Raimi’s Spider Man trilogy, drug dealer Saul Silver in Pineapple Express, and Aron Ralston in 127 Hours. His other films also include Milk, Tristan & Isolde, Flyboys, Date Night, Your Highness, Eat Pray Love and the upcoming Planet of the Apes reboot Rise of the Apes.
Razzies Results: The Last Airbender swept the Razzies with worst picture, worst director and worst screenplay (M. Night Shyamalan), worst supporting actor (Jackson Rathbone, who was cited for both “The Last Airbender” and “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”) and for a special award, worst eye-gouging misuse of 3-D. Sex and the City took worst sequel and worst actresses was shared by Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon.
Chicago Bears fan Ashton Kutcher was picked as worst actor for “Killers” and “Valentine’s Day.”
Jessica Alba took the Razzie as worst supporting actress for four 2010 releases, “The Killer Inside Me,” “Little Fockers,” “Machete” and “Valentine’s Day.”
Razzies (Golden Raspberry Award) are announced the night before the Oscars, Hollywood’s biggest party. The term raspberry in the name is used in its irreverent sense, as in “blowing a raspberry”. The awards themselves typically cost $4.97 each, in the form of a “golfball-sized raspberry” which sits atop a Super 8 mm film reel, the whole of which is spray-painted gold.
The 1st Golden Raspberry Awards were held on March 31, 1981 at John Wilson’s living room alcove to recognize the worst the film industry had to offer in 1980.
