Smokey Apartment Fire at Tanglewood Apartments

Arlington Heights Fire Department firefighter/paramedics at Tanglewood Apartments during ventilation operations Wednesday.

Arlington Heights firefighter/paramedics and police responded about 12:35 p.m. Wednesday to Tanglewood Apartments, 2170 South Goebbert Road. Firefighters received a report of heavy, black smoke entering an apartment from the apartment building hallway. Police officers arrived first and reported black smoke coming from the building. Firefighters arrived and knocked the fire down within minutes.

Mount Prospect Fire Department and Elk Grove Village Fire Department assisted Arlington Heights firefighters for a short time.

One person was transported from the scene to Northwest Community Hospital about an hour after the fire was extinguished, but it is unknown if the incident was directly related to the apartment fire.
