Apartment Fire in Mount Prospect on West Prospect Ave

Mount Prospect police and firefighter/paramedics responded just before 2:40 PM Thursday to an activated fire alarm in the 1200 block of West Prospect Avenue in Mount Prospect. While firefighters were enroute (two minutes later), a caller reported that a couch and apartment were involved on fire in an apartment unit on the third floor, and that smoke was filling up the third floor hallway.

Upon arrival of the first firefighter crews, smoke was reported on two sides of the building. At least two people were rescued from a balcony on the southeast side of the apartment building.

The fire was reported out by 2:55 p.m.

Fire departments from Arlington Heights, Des Plaines, Elk Grove Township, Glenview, and Rolling Meadows assisted Mount Prospect Fire Department either at the scene or covering fire stations for the rest of the town.
