The lead engine of an Amtrak passenger train en route from Chicago to New York caught fire with flames shooting out of the engine as it was approaching a station in Elyria, Ohio about 6:00 am. Wednesday.

The three engineers on board the locomotive got out safely after the fire broke out and disconnected the engine from the rest of the train. None of the 128 passengers traveling on the Lake Shore Limited train were ever in any danger.

Firefighters responded to the Elyria station and the fire was put out, but the fire was well-involved.

Passengers are delayed, and are waiting for a replacement locomotive to arrive.
