Arlington Heights police responded about 4:15 PM Friday to a public service call at Jewel-Osco, 1860 South Arlington Heights Road. Police received a report that a 13-year-old male attempted to steal two loaves of bread from the grocery store. The male was accompanied by his 15-year-old sister. Officials at Jewel-Osco hoped to release them to their parents without pressing charges, but Jewel-Osco officials were unable to contact the parents of the brother and sister because they weren’t answering their phone.

Police were working on a resolution.
