Lake County Sheriff’s police and Antioch Fire Department responded just before 1:30 a.m. Thursday to a head-on crash with entrapment near 27500 West Grass Lake Road. A silver 2000 Mitsubishi and a 2003 GMC Envoy SUV collided at a high rate of speed. The GMC Envoy SUV, driven by Michael Albers Jr., 23, of Zion, was apparently eastbound when the SUV crossed the center yellow double-lines and crashed into the silver Mitsubishi.

Danielle Trevithick, 22, a female driver of the Mitsubishi was killed instantly. Albers, driving the SUV, was ejected during the crash. A man and a woman were extricated by firefighter/paramedics. Three medical helicopters were called to the scene — one possibly from McHenry, one from Waukesha, Wisconsin and the third helicopter, a REACT helicopter from Rockford. The passengers in the GMC Envoy have been identified as Stephen Chevalier, 25, of Zion, and Denise Anderson, 45, of Gurnee.

The first and second helicopters airlifted patients to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville — starting at about 2:20 a.m. Thursday. The third victim was transported to Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. All three victims airlifted were triaged code red — or critical condition.

The accident is under investigation by a Lake County Sheriff Accident Investigation team and the Coroner’s Office — Lake County Coroner Richard L. Keller, MD. Speed and alcohol are likely factors in the crash.

Danielle Trevithick [faceboook] was a 2006 graduate of Grant Community High School, and was attending the College of Lake County — studying to be a dental hygienist. She is survived by her mother, Shari, her father, Anthony and her 20-year-old sister, Savannah.
