Coldest Start for October in Chicago in 133 Years

Chicago’s official average temperature for October’s first 15 days was 47.3°F on Thursday, which marks the city’s coldest October since 1876. November 15 is the day that Fall normally cools to an average high of 47°F with an average minimum temperature of 32°F. March 17 marks the day when the normal high reaches 47°F.

With rain (over 2 inches) falling in 10 of the last 15 days, October’s sun has only shined 38 percent of the time — compared to 58% for an average October in Chicago.
