AT&T Workers Foil Child Abduction in Schaumburg

#ad▼

Schaumburg police officers responded to a report of a child abduction with the mother running after the father and child in the neighborhood of Braintree Drive and Amherst Drive Friday afternoon. When the police arrived on the scene they discovered that three AT&T workers forced the father to release the child to the mother. The father then fled solo in the area of Braintree and Amherst Drive, Colwyn Drive, Hoover Park, the CRC and Safety Town. Police were in the neighborhood streets and backyards searching and hopping fences after the suspect at about 12:15 p.m. Friday.

Schaumburg police discontinued the search after the mother decided not to sign a complaint against the father. The father was described as having long hair — possibly in a pony tail.

Several neighbors who noticed the police activy in the area of Iverson Lane called 9-1-1 to give updates of sightings of the fleeing suspect. Schaumburg police caught up with the suspect without further pursuit and questioned him in the 1300 block of Chalfont Drive.

Hoffman Estates police also came to the scene to check on the suspect.
