Arlington Heights police responded to a neighbor’s call to 9-1-1 just before 2 a.m. after the neighbor heard a woman’s call for help in a struggle with a male at the intersection of Oakton Avenue and Harvard Avenue. Police arrived and interrupted an apparent criminal sexual assault and/or battery in progress — possibly near Oakton and Patton Avenue. A foot pursuit began possibly near Patton Avenue where a police officer left his squad car as he took off running after the offender. The offender fled northbound on Harvard Avenue and was last seen running westbound through a backyard in the 1100 block of North Harvard Avenue. Police were searching backyards, north and west of Harvard and Oakton between 2:10 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. The Cook County Sheriff K-9 unit assisted Arlington Heights police in the search for the suspect. Several police squads were on the scene and involved in the search.

The offender was described as a tall male/black, having a thin to medium build. He was wearing a dark-blue Chicago Bears jersey with number 34 on the back. He was also wearing blue jean shorts.

A female victim was transported to Northwest Community Hospital from the northeast corner of Oakton Avenue and Harvard Avenue.

Arlington Heights police are investigating leads for the suspect and are also investigating the crime scene for evidence at Oakton Avenue and Harvard Avenue.
