Arlington Heights Police received a report of a deer struck by a car at the eastbound express lanes of Palatine Road west of Schoenbeck just before 7:00 p.m. Monday. The driver of the car that hit the deer left the scene of the accident before police arrived. Arlington Heights police euthanized the deer at the scene.
The police and animal warden apparently had to wait with an express lane closed for about one hour in rush hour traffic because of a law requiring IDOT approval to remove the deer from Palatine Road. An Arlington Heights public works truck was used to transport the euthanized deer away from the scene.
